32 Ford Frame Painted

32_frame_2 Although the picture may look like a redneck wind chime or trailer park yard art it is in reality the rig I used to paint my frame over the weekend. It's a color called Ford Performance Red and it looks great! I've started putting the frame back together and the next step wil be a coat of "Hot Rod Black" for the body. More pictures to come.

Back in the Shop

Grinding Well after a several week layoff I've finally been able to spend a little time out in my shop. I'm working on my 32 roadster and I'll be posting some progress pics here. Tonight I dressed up some of the welds on the frame. Nothing like the smell of burning metal and flying sparks to put a smile on your face. The only problem is with our recent heat wave it was still 91 degrees in the shop at 9:45 pm! Really strange weather lately it was 10 degrees hotter in Chattanooga today than in Austin Texas!

Young adults aren't sticking with church

Interesting article in USA Today, you can read it here. One sobering statistic was that 26% of those who dropped out of church at an early age did so because they found church members to be judgemental or hypocritical. Here's an interesting quote from the article:

"It seems the teen years are like a free trial on a product. By 18, when it's their choice whether to buy in to church life, many don't feel engaged and welcome,"

What can the local church do to met the needs of those who have just left high school? I think one thing that hurts this age group is when they leave a student program that is built around their unique needs and they enter the adult population of the church they are in for a culture shock. All of a sudden all of the music, messages and other things that were targeted at them are gone. Now they are expected to function in an environment that their 70 year old grandmother feels comfortable in and it just doesn't work for them.

Can you name these "emergent" pastors?

Emergent_pastors

Since some web sites ( Old Truth) seem to be experts on identifying all of the "copycat"  emergent pastors perhaps they can help ID the ones shown above with their similar goatees, glasses and clothing. I believe two of them are Ed Stetzer and Dan Kimball but I'm not sure. Smile
